Orthodontics Treatment Methods
Fixed Orthodontic Treatment
Fixed orthodontic treatment is a form of treatment performed with small force support called “bracket” on the teeth. Your orthodontist glues and fixes the brackets and these cannot be removed by the patient. Brackets used in orthodontic treatment are divided into two as metal and transparent. Both types can be used in children and adults.
After the brackets are glued and fixed on the teeth, these are connected to each other by “arc brace”. The arc braces with “shape memory”, produced by Titanium + Nickel combination with advanced technology, try to bring the teeth towards the intended shape. By applying brackets to teeth and fixing the braces, the teeth are moved. It is possible that the procedure may be accompanied by feelings of pinching, numbness and pressure on the teeth for a 3-day period after the application. The symptoms mean that your teeth have begun to move. In the first days of the procedure, mild irritation may occur on the cheeks and lips. Do not be afraid, your mouth tissue will adapt to brackets and braces in short time
Movable Apparatus in Orthodontics Treatment
Movable apparatus consists of wires that provide adhesion in the mouth with the acrylic palate section. Movable appliances have a form that can be inserted and removed by the patient. It is among the preferred methods in the process of enlarging narrow jaws in children, simple dental treatment and post-treatment reinforcement
Functional Apparatus in Orthodontics Treatment
These are special apparatus which can be easily worn and removed by patients before the adolescence in order to correct the mutual structure of lower and upper jaw we know as skeletal problems. It is used as support to fixed orthodontic apparatus in cases where the lower or upper jaw is towards the rear position in children.
Orthognathic Surgery (Orthodontic Surgery)
In patients who cannot be treated with orthodontics or orthopedic treatment, surgical arrangements can be made to support orthodontic treatment. Disorders that occur on the face and jaw can be congenital. Apart from this, it may also occur in cases such as illness or accident. Incompatibilities may lead to aesthetic, functional and psychological problems in individuals. With the technological advances, plastic surgery applications help to prevent deformities in the best way possible.
