What is Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery?

It is a branch of dentistry in which the symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of diseases in the oral, dental and maxillofacial region are determined clinically and radiographically.

It is a department that performs surgical procedures in the operating room environment under local anesthesia, general anesthesia or sedation to diagnose and surgically treat all kinds of diseases affecting hard tissues such as cheeks, palate, tongue, lips, soft tissues and teeth, bones, joints in the oral cavity.

Cases such as tooth extractions, wisdom tooth extractions, embedded tooth operations, implants, treatment of jaw fractures, detection /treatment of abscess-cysts in jaw tumors, jaw and surrounding tissues, arrangement of tissues before prosthesis and orthodontic treatment, etc. are included in maxillofacial surgery field.
